Business continuity leader Interactive chooses Sophos security and control Company protects workers across Australia
Interactive has selected Sophos to protect its employees from malicious threats.
Sophos has announced that Interactive, an Australian leader in business continuity services for major enterprises, will deploy its market-leading security and control solutions to protect an Australia-wide network of more than 200 employees.
The new, three-year agreement will result in Sophos's Endpoint Security and Control 7.0 solution being deployed on all servers, desktops and laptops at locations in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Furthermore, Interactive will deploy Sophos's Web and Email appliances to protect its network boundaries against attack by cybercriminals of all types including hackers, phishers, spammers and malware authors.
Interactive will also encourage its employees to take advantage of Sophos's licence conditions which provide them with complimentary use of Sophos's anti-malware software on their home PCs and laptops.
Commenting on Interactive’s decision for Sophos, Paul Simmonds, IT Strategy Manager, said, "Sophos's security appliances are rapid and simple to install, and offer comprehensive protection across our email and web gateways. Furthermore, Sophos proactively manages the protection on the appliances, which will help us reduce our day-to-day administrative overheads and save us time which can be better spent on other IT initiatives."
Simmonds cited rapid access to one-on-one technical support in Australia as a vital component of Sophos’s solution. "Sophos’s experience and reputation for delivering business grade support from Australia was very important to us. Given Interactive specialises in ensuring our own customers can rapidly get on with business if disaster happens to strike, Sophos offers a great match for our own rigorous service ambitions."
Malware writers consistently seek the easiest entry point into corporate networks. With the emergence of new web technologies and social media applications, the level of risk associated with internet usage has been amplified. Sophos’s global network of monitoring stations uncovered approximately 29,700 new infected web pages every day in June 2007. In contrast, earlier in 2007, the number of malicious pages detected stood as low as just 5,000 per day.
Sophos’s security appliances ensure Interactive can block spyware, viruses, phishing, malware and unwanted applications at the gateway and enable comprehensive access control for safe, productive web browsing and email use. Sophos also protects Interactive’s PCs, servers and laptops against local infection, providing thorough defence against all security threats.
"Australian businesses are rapidly turning to the ease-of-use of managed security appliances to provide gateway level protection against web and email threats," said Rob Forsyth, Managing Director for Sophos Asia Pacific. "Furthermore, businesses are adopting solutions that provide them with the ability to both secure and control any server, PC or laptop that is attached to their network from a single point."
"Interactive has an envious reputation for technical innovation and business continuity service delivery, and we look forward to working closely with them to ensure they are fully protected against computer security risks at all times," continued Forsyth.
