Sophos expert talks about phishing: who is to blame?

Paul Ducklin
Paul Ducklin describes the phishing threat and discusses who is to blame.

Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses against computer threats, today announced that it has published a new podcast discussing the increasing threat of phishing attacks, and asks whether banks are to blame.

With phishing attacks becoming more sophisticated and widespread, customers of banks are facing a serious dilemma when it comes to internet banking.

In the podcast, entitled "Phishing: Are the banks to blame?", Paul Ducklin, Head of Technology for Sophos Asia Pacific, is interviewed by Carole Theriault about the pitfalls that surround phishing scams and how banks can make it more difficult for hackers to succeed in their attacks.

"When it comes to online banking going wrong, it is easy to blame the banks that allow financial transactions to happen," said Carole Theriault, host of the Sophos podcast. "After all, shouldn't they safeguard the process and protect their customers? But let us not forget the criminals - we shouldn't let them off the hook. In this podcast, Paul Ducklin explains who is really to blame and what users online banks can do to safeguard their accounts."
