Global director of SophosLabs discusses how malware and spam is changing
Mark Harris, global director of SophosLabs™, will be presenting at the seminar in Stockholm
Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses against computer threats, today announced that Mark Harris, global director of SophosLabs™, will be presenting at the "Malware - Virus, spyware and rootkits" seminar in Stockholm, Sweden on Tuesday 20 June.
Harris's presentation, entitled "Modern Malware - Staying under the radar", discusses how malware and spam is becoming increasingly targeted, with hackers making lower-profiled attacks in order to keep out of the news headlines.
Harris will also discuss future threats, including security issues revolving around the areas of mobile phones, VOIP and instant messaging.
"Organized cybercriminals are using sophisticated methods to increase their chances of stealing money from innocent users," said Harris. "It's important to understand how modern hackers and spammers operate in order to effectively protect against them."
Harris leads SophosLabs™, Sophos's global network of virus, spyware and spam analysis centers, developing round-the-clock protection in order to ensure customers' networks automatically detect and block new threats. He also manages proactive technology development, including Sophos's Genotype detection technology, which uses forensic analysis to identify suspicious patterns and characteristics unique to either a virus family or a spam campaign. By analysing these Genotype patterns, Sophos reduces exposure to new unidentified threats and unwanted content.
