Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses against viruses, spyware and spam, will campaign for multi-layered IT security for all organisations, on stand 520 at Infosecurity 2006. In light of the steep rise in financially motivated malware attacks, cyber crime is rightly perceived to be the biggest threat to businesses today.
A recent Sophos web poll of 500 business users found that 70% put viruses and hacking at the top of their list of biggest threats to their business. Employee fraud received 18% of the vote, physical break-in 7%, whereas corporate espionage received just 5% of the vote.
Sophos experts will be discussing these results on the booth.

The company, which currently receives approximately 2,000 new malware reports each month, will also be demonstrating its solutions to protect gateway boundaries as well as desktop, laptop and server endpoints against viruses, worms, spyware, Trojans, phishing and spam. Among these the company will be showing Infosecurity visitors its recently launched ES4000, which is the industry's first fully integrated plug-and-play email security appliance.
To further reinforce its campaign for consolidated security solutions for all organisations, Sophos's global head of sales engineering, Michael Argast, will present the seminar session, 'Know the threat: online crime gangs and the evolution of attacks' on 27 April 2006 at 1.30pm. During his talk, he will highlight the consequences for business of irresponsible employee behaviour and poorly protected networks.
"The complexities of today's threats pose major challenges to businesses," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos. "Without the right defenses in place, the systems, data, money and business continuity of an organization can all be compromised - we intend to hit this message home at Infosecurity."
