Sophos PureMessage receives high marks in META Group's email hygiene vendor comparison
|
Sophos, a global leader in policy-based network security software for viruses and spam, announced that Sophos PureMessage received high marks and is listed among the leading solution providers in META Group's recently published "E-Mail Hygiene Vendor Comparison" report. Sophos PureMessage scored high among leading competitors on several of Meta Group's 12 criteria categories used to evaluate and compare vendors.
The report, authored by Matt Cain, takes an in-depth look at the email security market by evaluating 12 email hygiene vendors by 12 specific criteria across certain core competencies including:
- Product functionality, which includes spam blocking, virus blocking, MTA/anomaly, secure mail, content filtering and end-user controls. Sophos is among the highest for virus blocking along with Trend Micro
- Platform Specifics, which includes management, reporting and price. Sophos is among the highest for end user controls along with Symantec
"It is essential that enterprises establish a comprehensive approach to email hygiene in order to protect the overall health of corporate communications," said Steve Munford, president of Sophos Inc. "With ever-increasing threats, users must upgrade their mail hygiene capabilities. This thorough evaluation of mail hygiene vendors from a trusted third party will help companies to determine their maximum email protection and functionality needs by matching individual supplier competencies against specific business needs."
According to the report, META Group expects that the vendor landscape will drastically reduce from the 60 plus vendors in the market today down to 10 primary suppliers by 2007. However, buyers cannot afford to wait for market consolidation. Mail hygiene issues loom large today and demand immediate resolution.
