Sophos launches award-winning anti-virus for NetApp Storage Systems
Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses against viruses and spam, announced the release of Sophos Anti-Virus for NetApp Storage Systems, a new product that defends Network Appliance networked storage solutions. With Sophos's industrial strength virus protection technology, system administrators can safeguard all stored data from the very latest viruses, worms, Trojan horses and spyware.
Sophos Anti-Virus for NetApp Storage Systems' flexible configuration options allow administrators to tailor the product to their network infrastructure requirements. By protecting the stored data with scheduled or constant real-time scanning and by using proactive detection technology, business data is secured from viruses and other malicious software.
"Data is the lifeblood of every company, and so it is critical that all computers in an organisation are properly protected against all the latest virus threats," said Phil Wood, Sophos Anti-Virus product manager at Sophos. "Sophos Anti-Virus for NetApp Storage Systems scans at the storage level, rather than the user level, ensuring a higher level of performance. Through its ability to update automatically, this Sophos solution reduces the load on IT administrators and ensures a high level of network security."
"We are delighted that Sophos has brought its award-winning anti-virus solution to NetApp Storage Systems," said Ashley Robinson, Marketing Director, Northern Europe & Middle East at Network Appliance. "Because NetApp Filers consolidate storage across many servers and applications, it is essential to safeguard their content with a reliable and trusted anti-virus product."
Sophos can protect all NetApp storage systems running Data ONTAP 6.x operating system. Running from a connected Windows NT/XP/2000/2003 computer, Sophos Anti-Virus for NetApp Storage Systems can administer the scanning of files remotely.
