Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses against viruses and spam, has announced that Dr Jan Hruska, Sophos's co-founder and chief executive officer, is to speak at the Anti-Spam Asia 2004 conference being held in Shanghai, China on 7 December.

Delegates at the event, hosted by Sophos and Sun Microsystems, will hear from a number of distinguished speakers and experts in the areas of computer security. Over 300 delegates from private enterprises, education institutes and government in Shanghai have registered to attend.

Dr Hruska will speak about Sophos's history, strategy and vision - including how it has successfully defended companies around the world from the emerging threats of spam and viruses.

"As the number of organisations using the internet grows, especially via broadband, companies are demanding more sophisticated security solutions to protect against spammers, hackers, phishers and virus writers," said Dr Hruska. "Sophos is committed to offer its global expertise to expedite the adoption of effective IT security solutions in China."

Other speakers at the conference include Mr Shi Jian, Director, Shanghai Computer Anti-Virus Center and Professor Lawrence Law, Director, IT Services Center, HKUST.

Sophos is also collaborating with Sun Microsystems in the Sun iForce Partner Programme to integrate Sophos PureMessage and Java Enterprise System to provide a comprehensive anti-spam and anti-virus solution for high-volume messaging environments, such as telecommunications carriers, universities and enterprises in China.
