Sophos launches SAV Interface for NetWare

A solution allowing third-party NetWare applications developers to integrate with Sophos's award-winning virus protection.

Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses from viruses and spam, today announced the release of SAV Interface for NetWare, the application programming interface (API) that allows the integration of Sophos's powerful virus detection and disinfection capabilities with third-party applications. GWAVA, a provider of eSecurity software solutions for Novell GroupWise, worked with Sophos during the development of SAV Interface for NetWare.

SAV Interface provides comprehensive reporting of any virus incident. It satisfies the requirements of high-bandwidth environments and, through its high-speed channel into the Sophos virus detection engine, provides protection against all known viruses. Integrating with Sophos's EM Library, SAV Interface for NetWare can update its virus protection automatically, without any requirement for user intervention.

"Rapid response and superior performance are the two most important considerations when protecting your system from email virus threats," said Charles Taite, co-founder and CTO at GWAVA.  "Combining GWAVA with Sophos's first-class technologies provides our customers with an excellent way to stay protected from new threats."

"As a Novell Technology Partner, Sophos is showing its commitment to customers running on Novell platforms, specifically Netware and SUSE Linux." said John Shaw, senior product manager for enterprise solutions at Sophos. "Launching SAV Interface for NetWare opens new doors for integration with other NetWare applications and is further proof of Sophos's focus on developing solutions for NetWare customers."
