Sophos experts to address anti-virus conference in Sydney
Sophos, a world-leader in anti-virus and anti-spam protection for businesses, has announced that two anti-virus experts from its Sydney research laboratory will be addressing the Sixth Annual Anti-Virus Asia Researchers (AVAR) Conference next month.
Paul Ducklin, Sophos's Head of Technology, Asia Pacific, and Sophos Virus Researcher Sean McDonald, will join other prominent experts from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, the UK and the USA at the conference.
AVAR aims to assist the development of cooperative relationships among anti-virus researchers in Asia and to raise awareness of computer security issues. AVAR2003 is focused on malicious code, and will cover:
- Emerging malicious code threats
- Technology at risk -- dealing with the threats today and in the future
Paul Ducklin's presentation will tackle the hot issue of who holds responsibility for computer security. Ducklin will discuss how computer security vendors, corporate IT managers, internet service providers, legislators and law enforcement can work together against malicious code.
Sean McDonald will address the conference alongside independent anti-virus researcher Nick Fitzgerald. Their joint presentation will examine ways of working with the latest viruses, many of which consist of a number of separate components which come together to do their damage.
This is the first time that the AVAR Conference is being held in Australia. AVAR2003 takes place from 5 - 7 November 2003 at the Westin Hotel, Sydney.
