Sophos launches Sophos Anti-Virus for Notes/Domino v. 2.0
Sophos, the world leader in network-based anti-virus solutions, has launched version 2.0 of Sophos Anti-Virus for Notes/Domino. This new version of Sophos Anti-Virus (SAV) software will detect, report and remove viruses in Lotus Notes databases and emails.
The Sophos software runs on Domino servers and offers three different working modes: immediate mode which scans for viruses on command; scheduled mode which scans databases on specific days and times; and real time mode which intercepts and scans incoming and outgoing email attachments.
A comprehensive messaging service allows SAV to warn administrators, senders and recipients about detected viruses. SAV for Notes/Domino can also scan attachments for viruses that have been compressed by ZIP or other compression tools.
"As the leader in the messaging market, Lotus fully appreciates the potential threat that viruses pose," said Jim Moffat, product marketing manager for Lotus Development. "Sophos Anti-Virus for Notes/Domino offers a reliable way to prevent that threat from becoming reality."
"Lotus Notes is favoured by large organisations because of its scalability and resilience," said Jan Hruska, Technical Director at Sophos. "The sheer amount of data that is amassed by these large companies via the Internet means the risk of infections spreading rapidly is a prime concern. With our latest version, companies can be sure that the risk of infection is significantly reduced."
