Senior Security Analyst, Sophos Inc.
As Senior Security Analyst, Ron O'Brien serves as spokesperson for Sophos North America. He oversees North America's media and analyst relations initiative and is widely quoted by major security, business and national news outlets, including The Associated Press, Forbes, Squawk Box, USA Today and The Wall Street Journal. Ron also works closely with SophosLabs, the company's global network of threat analysis centers, to keep abreast of the latest security threats, enabling him to speak authoritatively on topics ranging from network access control and malware trends to various operating system vulnerabilities.
Prior to joining Sophos in January 2006, Ron was the principal media spokesperson at Osram Sylvania, a Siemens company, located in Danvers, Massachusetts. In the late 1990s, he served as the Acting Director for the Science & Technology Foundation, a $25 million non-profit entity, for the Urban Development Corporation dba Empire State Development based in Albany, New York. Here he directed and managed the technology development efforts for the state.
Ron received a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Utica College, Syracuse University. Ron is a press contact for both the US and Canada and is available to talk to the media about viruses, spam, spyware and related security issues.
