Global IT security and data protection company Sophos today announced that it was named Information Security Vendor of the Year at this year's SC Magazine Awards Europe. In addition, Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition picked up the award for Best Anti-Malware Solution. The results were announced at a ceremony at London's Hilton Park Lane on April 19.

Sophos beat off strong competition from Absolute Software, Kaspersky, Qualys and Webroot. The judges chose Sophos because they felt that, in an increasingly pressurised business environment, Sophos simplifies the day-to-day work for security managers and does the heavy lifting in terms of malware prevention and data protection. The fact that Sophos has incorporated Live Protection into all of its security products was also noted.
This is the second time Sophos has been awarded the prestigious title, following a win in the same category in 2009.
