We issued two malfunctioning pattern updates for our flagship product Astaro Security Gateway which caused many of you significant troubles. I, and everyone at Astaro, understand that our most important asset is the trust of our partners and customers and today was a bad day for us.

Up2Date 8.003 Released

An Up2Date was released today for Astaro Security Gateway Version 8. This Up2Date is designed to improve the stability of your V8 installation, offers some security patches, and acts as the new target landing version for appliance users who one-touch upgrade to ASG V8 via the 7.508 Up2Date which will be released next week. At that time full details around the appliance upgrade process will be published, and we'll have an update on the progress of the 8.100 Beta & GA as well.

Up2Date 8.102 Released

We have released Up2Date 8.102 today for all ASG installations. This Up2Date is a stability release designed to enhance the reliability of your Astaro Security Gateway. Tomorrow, we plan to issue new ISO images along with brand new Virtual Appliances for VMware which use the vSphere 4 architecture, followed by updated ISO's for the Astaro Smart Installer. Up2Date 7.508 Released - Upgrade Appliances to Version 8

This morning, ASG version 7.508 has been released. The focus of this package is a one-touch upgrade from ASG version 7 to version 8 for ASG appliances, along with some final polish to accommodate the GA-release of our Wireless Security products. The appliance upgrade process provides an easy migration from V7 to V8 without the need to manually re-install the AstaroOS and restore from a backup file. Once the appliance upgrade has started via the Up2Date section, ASG V8 will be installed and all configuration will be imported. We have also improved the IPS engine and added outbound spam scanning into the V7 platform like V8. Read on for more details about the appliance migration process and other notes.

IPS false-positive can block http download of windows executable

It has come to our attention that a specific intrusion prevention pattern which is normally used to detect .NET exploits is falsely detecting some windows executable downloads to be malicious. You are only affected if you have the IPS system active, if you enabled the category "Attacks against Client Software" -> "Browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla)" and set this category to "drop". All other customers are not affected by this issue. We have identified the pattern and are currently analyzing it. Once we are finished, we will run the fixed pattern set through our test procedures and expect to be releasing fixed ips patterns by tomorrow. Read below how to work arround this issue ...

Astaro Command Center 2.2 Public Beta Begins

Up2Date 8.002 Released

Today we have released ASG Up2Date 8.002. The main purpose of this release is to address the majority of the outstanding bugs which have been reported since 8.001, increasing the stability of your ASG V8 installation. For those still using Version 7, the 8.002 Up2Date will also act as the destination "landing" version for the upcoming one-touch V7-->V8 Hardware Appliance Upgrade which will be available as part of the ASG 7.508 Up2Date release in October. Up2Date 8.101 Released

Status Update - Software error in old Astaro versions

Astaro Security Gateway Version 8.100 Released

I'm pleased to announced that Astaro Security Gateway Version 8.100 has been GA-released and is being distributed via our Up2Date infrastructure. The main focus of this release is our Wireless Security products; 8.100 brings official support for our much-sought-after Astaro Access Points to the Version 8 platform. Version 8.100 also introduces more flexibility for Astaro RED deployments, improvements to SMTP profiles and WAN link balancing, and many usability improvements based on your feature submissions and feedback.

Up2Date 7.509 Released

A few security vulnerabilities have been posted which require us to make an update to our V7 installations. Since we do not put our users at extended risk by following a scheduled update window, we are releasing this special Up2Date immediately. This V7.509 Up2date is soley issued in order to patch two components, and no new features are introduced. If you have been awaiting the release of ASG V7.509 so that you may migrate to V8.100 on your ASG appliance via our one-touch process, note that this is still on schedule but will be released under the V7.510 label. Astaro 8.100 Beta Begins

With the success of the ASG V8.000 launch, we will begin today the open Beta program for users which want to test the upcoming 8.100 release. The main focus of this version is to introduce the Wireless functionality of Astaro Access Points and Wifi controller into the V8 platform, along with other features and improvements. You are invited to test this version in your environement, and participate in our dedicated 8.100 Beta Forums to share your feedback, impressions, and report any bugs. Several Astaro staff will closely monitor and interact with the participants of this forum to ensure the best possible polish and quality of 8.100 for the GA release.

Astaro Security Gateway 8.200 Public Beta

Following months of planning and development, today I am happy to announce we have started a public Beta of our upcoming 8.200 release of Astaro Security Gateway. This is shaping up to be one of our biggest releases ever. You will find major new features like Application Visibility and Control to give you absolute dominion over your Internet connection, new Web Security reporting with custom reactive filters and email subscription lists for distribution, and a user authentication client which adds detailed per-user reporting and control. You are invited to test out this version and participate in our dedicated 8.200 Beta Forums to share your feedback, impressions, and report any bugs. Several members of our various teams will closely interact with the participants of this forum to ensure the best possible polish and quality of 8.200 for the GA release at the end of June.

Up2Date 7.510 Released

The main reason for this release is to make our "One-Touch Update to V8 for Appliances" available to all valid remaining ASG installations; notably those with Wireless Security enabled via Full Guard licensing and Stand-Alone licenses. Cluster and HA environments using ASG appliances can also now use this feature. In addition, we will use the opportunity to issue a few fixes.

Up2Date 8.302 Released

Today we released Up2Date 8.302 of Astaro Security Gateway. This release is soley for the purpose of addressing an issue our Swisscom DSL Customers reported due to changes implemented by this ISP. As a result, a small version bump will occur, in that the larger release we had intended to be 8.302 will now be released as 8.303 later this month which contains many fixes and updates for ASG V8. Sophos UTM 9 Public Beta Begins

The next major version of Astaro Security Gateway will be known as Sophos UTM 9. You are invited to participate in our just-released public Beta of this version to test and provide feedback which we will use to shape and polish the product as we move towards GA. The public Beta for UTM 9 is scheduled to run until late June, in preparation for a release that is targeted for July 15th.

Revision 4 of the Astaro Security Gateway 110-120 Available

End of Sale Announcement For Astaro Report Manager

This is a general notice that Astaro Report Manager (ARM) will no longer be sold beginning December 31st, 2010. Customers can still continue to receive support for ARM with their ASG V7 installations until the end of 2011. More details, along with information about alternatives for your reporting needs, follow in this article.

L2TP with DHCP in Version 8.000-8.003

This is a bug notice for Version 8.000-8.003 regarding L2TP with DHCP. If you are planning to use Version 8 - either with the appliance upgrade button or an ISO install + restore of your backup file, this configuration will cause problems. You also should not push the "one-touch upgrade button" introduced in 7.508 if you use L2TP with DHCP in V7.

ASG V8 Appliance Upgrade Date

Greetings. In some previous postings and communcations for Astaro Security Gateway Version 8, we indicated that we would make available a one-touch upgrade for ASG Hardware Appliances. This feature allows existing installations to easily move from Version 7 to the new Version 8 without the need to re-install manually. For the information of our customers and partners, this feature will very shortly be made available. We will first release ASG V8.002 as a soft-release* on Thursday, September 16th. Astaro Command Center Up2Date 2.201 Released

Up2Date 7.505 Released

Hello! Up2Date 7.505 has started to push to installations. This version is mainly to update some ASG code in preparation for the imminent GA release of the Astaro RED product. In addition, there are some fixes, stability changes, and we have also released a few new features. Added are support for multiple syslog servers, a read-only WebAdmin role, and XAUTH support in site-site IPSEC Tunnels.

Faulty IPS pattern blocks all traffic - How to fix it!
