Encrypted files cannot be opened by some applications.

If a user chooses to display the content of an encrypted file, the file needs to be decrypted beforehand. The resulting plain copy of the file is then served to the application that has been registered for that type of file.
For security reasons, access permissions are applied so that only this single file can be opened by the application and access to other files/folders is not granted. This is common practice and should not pose any issues, however, some applications fail to work properly if they're not granted universal access. Affected applications react differently, mostly resulting in the the file not being displayed.
What To Do
If you experience this problem, select a different application for viewing that does handle these restrictions properly.
Currently the following applications are known to have issues with privilege-restrictions:
- ASTRO Image Viewer
- ES Image Browser
