Issue
How to enforce certificate use when creating a new volume file in SafeGuard PrivateDisk Enterprise.

Known to apply to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s)

SafeGuard PrivateDisk, Enterprise Version(s) only!

Operating systems
All supported Operating Systems

What To Do

  1. Import the SafeGuard PrivateDisk ADM Template into the Group Policy Object (GPO).(ADM templates can be found under %PROGRAMFILES%\Sophos\adm)
  2. Open the GPO and browse to "User Configuration\AdministrativeTemplates\SafeGuard\PrivateDisk\User Right" and open the object "Passwords".

  3. In the 'Password Properties' window, on the Setting tab, select 'Enabled' and de-select "Passwords".
Please note: By default, this option is selected as Enabled.
  4. This will enforce the use of a certificate for new volume files. (In the New Disk Wizard - Step b/b, under 'Password',  'Use my certificate for administration of the disk instead', will now be selected.)
