How to issue/configure tokens in the SafeGuard Enterprise Management Center

No token slots are available in the SafeGuard Enterprise Management Center. This article describes how to configure the Safeguard Enterprise Management Center machine if you want to issue tokens in the Management Center.

What To Do

Before a token can be issued in the SafeGuard Enterprise Management Center, you need to assign appropriate middleware to it in the form of the PKCS#11 module. Do this using a SafeGuard Enterprise "General Settings" policy. The policy should be applied to the machine that holds the SafeGuard Enterprise Management Center. After the policy has been applied, the SafeGuard Enterprise Management Center can communicate with the token.

The following procedure describes how to configure the token policy.

1. Check the following:

  • You have installed the middleware on the computer that holds the SafeGuard Enterprise Management Center which is going to be used to issue/administer the token, and the token has already been initialized.
  • A SafeGuard Enterprise Client configuration package must be installed on the machine that holds the SafeGuard Enterprise Management Center.

2. Open the SafeGuard Enterprise Management Center and select the "Policies" tab.

  1. Insert the token into the USB interface. SafeGuard Enterprise reads the token.
  2. Select an existing "Specific Machine Settings" policy or create a new one if necessary.
  3. In the policy settings area on the right-hand side, expand "Token support settings PKCS#11 settings module 1" | "Module name" and select the appropriate middleware. Save the settings
  4. Assign the policy to the SafeGuard Enterprise Management Center computer.

The SafeGuard Enterprise Management Center can now communicate and administer the token.
