SafeGuard Easy multi-platform 4.3x
Which function keys can be used within the PBA of SafeGuard Easy?
During system start, you have some functionalities which can be accessed using function keys:
a) If any SafeGuard Easy user is set as a "default user" on a workstation, they are only prompted for the SafeGuard Easy password. They do not need to enter their user name. If someone other than the default user wants to log on, then extended logon must be switched on. This means that, in addition to the SafeGuard Easy password, they will also have to enter their user name. If they press [F2], the field in which they enter their user name is displayed above the field in which they enter their password.
b) If PBA is switched off, you can wait until a floppy disk icon appears in the top left-hand corner of the monitor and then press [F2] to call PBA and logon in the usual way.
F7: To boot from external media other than floppy disk (e.g. CD) after PBA, you have to insert the media, enter your SafeGuard Easy credentials and press [F7] instead of [Enter]. On some notebook models, this does not work properly. In case you observe that a boot from external media does not work properly, you can also use Shift + [F7] (only possible with version 4.504. of SafeGuard Easy)
F8: To define the logon component that is to be called by Utimaco logon component manually, press and hold the [F8] key when the system first switches from the blue text display to the (as yet empty) desktop.
F9: SafeGuard Easy includes a Challenge/Response procedure for resetting "forgotten" passwords. If a user requires help, they must generate a challenge code in PBA by pressing function key [F9]. Please review the manual, chapter "Help function for resetting forgotten passwords" and "Remote Maintenance", for more information.
F10: Users can change their own SafeGuard Easy password independently by pressing [F10]. To do so, the user enters their current SafeGuard Easy data and confirms it by pressing [F10]. Then, they see a prompt at which they enter their new password.
If a user logs on using a token, they can press [F10] to change the token password but the SafeGuard Easy data on the token will not be changed.
ESC: If you have switched from "login as default user" to "extended login" using [F2], you can go back to the default login by pressing ESC.
This key can also be used for cancelling the fingerprint logon.
