SafeGuard Easy multi-platform 4.5x
Windows 2000 Professional SP4, Windows XP SP2 Professional Edition
Windows 2003 Standard Edition
A removable device is not recognized by SafeGuard Easy, although it is visible in the Windows Explorer. How can it be encrypted?
Removable devices like USB sticks are usually identified as "Removable" by the Operating System. In special cases, some hardware is not identified as "Removable" but as "Partition".
Only devices that are identified as "Removable" can be encrypted through SafeGuard Easy's Removable Media encryption.
To check if your hardware is identified as "Removable" or "Partition", connect it to your computer and open the "Disk Management":
It is also possible to perform the check command line based: (Start -> Run... -> "cmd.exe" -> "Diskpart.exe" -> "LIST Volume")
If the hardware is identified as "Partition" by the Operating System, it is not possible to encrypt it via SafeGuard Easy's Removable Media encryption.
It is possible to encrypt the device at installation of SafeGuard Easy, but you should remember that all the hard disks (all non-removable media) that are to be encrypted must already be connected to the PC and switched on before SafeGuard Easy is installed.
To encrypt this kind of media, we recommend to use SafeGuard PrivateDisk.
