This article details how you can use the tool 'SubmitLogs' to upload to Sophos one or more copies of the log file(s) [TimeStamp]_#[ComputerName]#_007-AffectedProducts.txt as generated by the FixUpdate tool when run with the /checkAffectedProducts:true command line option.

We encourage you to submit logs so that we can improve the tools created to help you deal with the effects of the Shh false positive.

What To Do

To submit logs from a single computer:

  1. Download SubmitLogs from here.
  2. Extract the file 'SubmitLogs.vbs' to the same directory as the [TimeStamp]_#[ComputerName]#_007-AffectedProducts.txt log file as generated by FixUpdate tool.
  3. In a command prompt, change the location to the same directory as the log files and run the following command:
    cscript SubmitLogs.vbs
  4. Follow the onscreen menu options.

To submit logs from a number of computers where the log files have been stored centrally:

Note: To perform this operation you must have already run the FixUpdate tool with the parameters: /logpath:[location] and /checkAffectedProducts:true on a number of computers in order to have generated a central collection of logs.  For example:

\\server\logs\computer1\[EndpointLogs]
\\server\logs\computer2\[EndpointLogs]
\\server\logs\computer3\[EndpointLogs]

Once you have a file share with [TimeStamp]_#[ComputerName]#_007-AffectedProducts.txt logs from multiple endpoints, do as follows

  1. Download SubmitLogs from here.
  2. Extract the file 'SubmitLogs.vbs' on any computer which has access to the central logs share, e,g. '\\server\logs\'.
  3. Run the command:
    cscript SubmitLogs.vbs /logPath:\\server\logs
  4. Follow the onscreen menu options.
