Issue

Adobe Reader XI freezes when reader's toolbar is used on machines running SafeGuard Enterprise Client with file based encryption module (Data Exchange, File Share or Cloud Storage) installed.

The freeze locks the application for about 30 seconds until the application responds again.

What To Do

By default, Adobe Reader XI runs in protected mode to provide an added layer of security. As a temporary workaround, disable the Adobe Reader's Protected mode:

  1. To check the status of protected mode, choose File > Properties > Advanced > Protected Mode.
  2. Protected mode is enabled by default. To specify the settings, do the following:
  3. Choose Edit > Preferences.
  4. In the Categories list on the left, select Security (Enhanced).
  5. In the Sandbox Protections area, uncheck Enable Protected Mode at startup.

The changes take effect the next time you start the application
