This article explains how to install Sophos Patch without the need to re-deploy Sophos endpoint security software to the client.

This method involves adding two registry keys to an endpoint so that an existing Sophos AutoUpdate installation will install Sophos Patch on the next scheduled update.

Known to apply to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s)

Sophos Endpoint Security and Control 10.0

What To Do

The process below involves editing the registry. We recommend you backup the registry before continuing. For more information please see article 10388.

On the client computer open the registry editor (Start | Run | Type: regedit.exe | Press return) and create the following two keys depending on your client's platform.

NOTE: The data values 'ProductName', 'CidFolderPath', 'PrimaryServer' and 'PrimaryProtocol' are all of type STRING.

32-bit client

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Products\{C58B1255-C24E-43d6-B2EB-9FB302B42E99}]
"ProductName"="Sophos Patch Agent"
"CidFolderPath"="spa"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\Sophos Patch Agent\Setup]
"PrimaryServer"="serveraddress:80"
"PrimaryProtocol"="http"

64-bit client

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Products\{D918120F-5C45-4e77-BEBF-7D921273B2E0}]
"ProductName"="Sophos Patch Agent"
"CidFolderPath"="spa64"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sophos\Sophos Patch Agent\Setup]
"PrimaryServer"="serveraddress:80"
"PrimaryProtocol"="http"

Once the keys are correctly set in the registry the existing installation of Sophos AutoUpdate on the computer will download and install Sophos Patch. You can also force an update to ensure Sophos Patch is downloaded correctly.
