W32/Oscabot-K is an instant messenging worm with IRC backdoor functionality for the Windows platform.
W32/Oscabot-K runs continuously in the background, providing a backdoor server which allows a remote intruder to gain access and control over the computer via IRC channels.
W32/Oscabot-K may attempt to send a message and URL to users of the AIM, ICQ, MSN and YIM instant messaging clients.
W32/Oscabot-K will attempt to terminate the following processes:
AIMFix.exe, cmd.exe, mmc.exe, net.exe, netstat.exe, regedit.exe, sc.exe, taskmgr.exe
When first run W32/Oscabot-K copies itself to <Windows folder>\mscarrt32.exe.
The following registry entry is modified to run mscarrt32.exe on startup:

The file mscarrt32.exe is registered as a new system driver service named "wificonf", with a display name of "Wireless Connection Configuration" and a startup type of automatic, so that it is started automatically during system startup. Registry entries are created under:
