Overview

You may notice increased memory usage in Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X v9  as compared with version 8.

This results from the incorporation of a number of new or improved features including:

  • SophosScanD, new in v9 
  • Moving to 64-bit compilation. 
  • Improvements to architecture, for example, more daemons,e.g. SophosSXLD, SophosConfigD are new in v9.

As the product continues to evolve overall memory consumption will change. Improvements are planned for upcoming major releases.
