Issue Sophos product and version
When you run the Enterprise Console installer, a dialog box with the following text is shown immediately:
The system must be restarted before installing this product to allow prior file update operations to complete. (The operations were previously scheduled by another install or uninstall operation.)

What to do
Restart the computer. The installation should run smoothly now.
Note that if you click 'No', the installation will continue.
If you still get this dialog box then read through the following procedure and then read the Warning on editing the registry. You should also read the Microsoft article on PendingFileRenameOperations.
You should only follow these steps if you are fully confident about what you are doing. If you are unsure, please contact Sophos Technical Support.
- Open the following registry key and check the value data:
HKLM\System\CurrentcontrolSet\Control\Session Manager [ PendingFileRenameOperations]
- If there is a problem where the registry entry is not clearing, create a backup of the Session manager key and delete the PendingFileRenameOperations entry. The installer should now run without the restart prompt. This issue may occur if during the initial install a dependent component created entries for file maintenance.
