Update manager log displays random characters instead of double-byte characters

When you open the Update Manager log viewer, you may see random characters in place of text in UNC paths and user names.

What to do

Open the log on a computer running a version of Windows that uses double-byte characters.

The SUM log viewer can only view characters in the local character environment, so the log entries for the shares in a double-byte operating system locale cannot be displayed properly.
