The Windows installer service has not properly terminated the install process resulting in a suspended installation for the specified package.
What to do
Clear any in-progress installations as described below:
NOTE: The following requires editing of the registry. Before continuing follow our article on how to back up the registry here.
- Launch Windows Registry Editor
Start | Run | Regedit
- Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Inprogress.
- If the Inprogres exists, then delete it.
- Retry installation
If the same problem occurs delete the key above again, then reboot the machine before attempting the install.
Unregister and then re-register the Windows Installer Service.
On Windows XP, 2003,
Choose Start > Run.
Type msiexec /unreg and click OK.
Type msiexec /regserver and click OK.
On Windows Vista and above
Choose Start, type msiexec /unreg in the Search field and press Enter.
Type msiexec /regserver in the Search field and press Enter.
