Issue
PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, shows SMTP Scanning status as unavailable.
Mail is not flowing.

Sophos product and version
PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, version 3.0.1

Operating system
Windows 2003

What to do

This problem may be due to IIS not running.

  1. Check the Sophos PureMessage services to make sure they are all started and can be re-started OK.
  2. Then try to do an IIS reset: at a command prompt, type 
    IISreset /restart
  3. Press Return.
  4. If this fails, the problem is with IIS and not PureMessage. Contact Microsoft for assistance.
