PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange: uninstall fails, errors reported

When you attempt to uninstall PureMessage, the uninstall fails and errors such as any of the following are generated:

  • error 0x80070102
  • Setup was unable to stop services

What to do

  • Restart the PureMessage computer.
  • Go to Add/Remove programs, and remove the Sophos components in the following order:
    1. PureMessage
    2. Sophos AutoUpdate
    3. Sophos Anti-Virus
