Sophos Web Appliance: Accessing HTTPS site with non-standard SSL port

Problem: The Sophos Web Appliance cannot access HTTPS sites that use a non-standard SSL ports. The  standard SSL port is 443.

Solution:

  1. On the Configuration > Group Policy > Local Site List page, click Add Site.
    The Group Policy: Local Site List dialog box is displayed.
  2. In the Enter URLs, domains, IP addresses or CIDR ranges text box, enter the URL and port in the format site:port.
  3. Select Override the risk class and set the risk class to Medium Risk, Low Risk or Trusted.
  4. Click Save.

Also verify that the firewall between the web appliance and the internet does not block outbound HTTPS traffic to the non-standard ports.
