PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange scanning displays 'Unavailable' in the Dashboard

Issue

The PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange Dashboard or Activity monitor view displays 'Unavailable' for either of the following:

Transport (SMTP) scanning
Exchange store scanning

Cause

The required Microsoft Exchange services are not started

What To Do

Exchange 2003

  • Transport (SMTP) scanning
    • Start the Simple Mail Transport Protocol service
    • Refresh the PureMessage console view

  • Exchange Store scanning
    • Start the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service
    • Refresh the PureMessage console view
Exchange 2007/2010
  • Transport (SMTP) scanning
    • Start the Microsoft Exchange Transport service
    • Refresh the PureMessage console view

  • Exchange Store scanning
    • Start the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service
    • Refresh the PureMessage console view
