What to do

The error dialog box usually displays the email address that is causing the issue. Please note this down.

If you have a configuration that you created and saved previously, you can import this and base your new configuration on it. Alternatively, do the following:

  1. Open PureMessage and navigate to Configuration|System|Export configuration. Save the configuration folder as a backup.
  2. Download the PureMessage version 3 support tools from the Sophos website and extract them.
  3. Open the ConfigEditor.hta file and load the 'SMTP' config.
  4. Locate the email address that is causing the issue that you noted above. There should be two instances of it. Select the second instance.
  5. Delete the following entry from the 'SMTP' config, where name.com is the address you noted above. Only delete exactly the following:

    <EmailAddressInfo>
    <EmailAddress>
    @name.com
    </EmailAddress>
    <Comment>
    </Comment>
    </EmailAddressInfo>

  6. Save the configuration.
  7. Close PureMessage then re-open it.
