What to do

Click OK to the message. The installation will continue. Once installation has completed, you must then add exclusions manually as described below, according to whether you have enterprise solutions or small business or an unmanaged PureMessage server:

Enterprise solutions

  1. Open the Enterprise Console.
  2. In the Policies pane, right-click the Anti-Virus policy that applies to the PureMessage server and select View/Edit policy,
  3. Click the 'On-access' button then select 'Windows Exclusions'.
  4. In the 'On-access scans settings' dialog box, you must add the following to the list of Windows exclusions:

Note: You must to include the "\" at the end of the exclusion.

Repeat the above for the on-demand scan. To do this, go to the Sophos Anti-Virus window, select Configure|On-demand extensions and exclusions. Manually add the same exclusions as above.

Small business solutions or a PureMessage server that is not managed by enterprise console

If you have small business solutions, before you start the following procedure you must open Sophos Control Center, right-click on the name of your PureMessage server and deselect ‘Use central anti-virus configuration’.

  1. On the server where PureMessage is installed, right-click on the shield and select 'Open Sophos Anti-Virus'.
  2. Select 'Configure|On Access Scanning'.
  3. On the 'Exclusions' tab, in the 'On-access scans settings' dialog box, you must add the following to the list of Windows exclusions:

Note: You must to include the "\" at the end of the exclusion.
