PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange: will not report on both SMTP and Exchange Store jobs

Issue
This issue can occur in a network where you have multiple Exchange servers. You can see all the servers in your PureMessage console, but when you attempt to run reports, you can only obtain one of the following types of report (not both):

  • where Job type = SMTP
  • where Job type = Exchange Store

Technical background
This occurs because although the console shows all the servers, it is actually only connecting to one of them at the time. If the server it is connecting to has only one of these roles, it can only report on that one role.

The same occurs if the console is actually running on one of the servers that only has one role.

What To Do

Ensure that you are connecting to a server that has both SMTP and Exchange Store roles.
