Following installation of PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange web services fail

Issue
Following the installation of PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, web-based email or other web services do not work.

Technical background
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 is installed as a prerequisite by PureMessage. However, this can cause issues with components related to Exchange Web services including:
• Outlook Web Access
• Office Communications Server integration
• Outlook Address Book
• Out of Office notifications

Known to apply to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s)

PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange 3.1.0

Operating System
Microsoft Exchange 2007 and 2003

What To Do

To resolve the issue, install the update for .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 which is available through the Microsoft knowledgebase article 959209 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959209).
You only need to do this manually if your server does not have automatic updating enabled.
