Enterprise Console: message "Error connection to database is lost."

With Sophos Enterprise Console, if you set up a remote management system and the user that you specify in the remote installation exists, but does not have access to the database, a message is placed in the event log:

Error connection to database is lost, Management Service will be shut down.

What to do

Check the rights of the account used to contact the database:

  1. Open Registry Editor.
  2. Find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Sophos/EE/Management Tools/Database User entry.
  3. Check the DatabaseUserDomain, DatabaseUserName and DatabaseUserPassword keys.
  4. Make sure the credentials are still valid and make any necessary changes.
