Sophos Mobile Security: forced uninstall

In some circumstances you may need to remove Sophos Mobile Security manually.

What to do

If Sophos Mobile Security is running, you will first need to stop it.

  1. Select Start|Settings.
  2. Tap the System tab.
  3. Tap 'Memory'.
  4. Tap the Running Programs tab.
  5. If Sophos Mobile Security is present in the list, highlight it, and select 'Stop'.

You will then need to remove the files associated with Sophos Mobile Security.

  1. Select Start|Programs.
  2. Tap 'File Explorer'.
  3. Select 'My Device' from the drop-down menu at the top.
  4. Then select 'Program Files'.
  5. In the displayed list there should be a folder called 'Sophos'.
  6. Hold your stylus down on 'Sophos', and select 'Delete' when the option appears.
  7. Return to 'My Device' in the drop-down menu.
  8. Select 'Windows'.
  9. Delete the following files:
    • smstray.exe
    • smswin.css
    • onaccess.dll
    • retailer.dll
    • scanner.dll
    • smswin_10_heng.htm
  10. Reboot your device to ensure that everything has been removed.
