In the console the following error is shown:
0000002b The installation credentials you entered in the "Protect computers wizard" are either incorrect or do not give administrator access to the computer over the network.
First seen in
Sophos Enterprise Manager 4.7.0
Sophos Control Center 4.0.1
Enterprise Console 4.5.0
The account used in the protection wizard was not recognized; was not an administrative account; or has a restriction preventing it running the installation.
Before you begin
The Administrator (or equivalent) account used for deployment must be available to both the Sophos server and the endpoint.
In workgroup environments (or cross domain infrastructures where the trust relationship is limited), the account must both exist on both the server and endpoint featuring the same password.
What To Do
Ensure the following is done:
- In the 'Protect computers wizard' you enter:
domain\administrator - if using Active Directory.
administrator - if in a workgroup environment.
Note: You cannot use
hostname\account, either the destination endpoint or Sophos server will not be able to verify the account.
- If the "administrator" account is still causing problems:
- The account used is in the domain admins group - if using Active Directory.
- The account used is in the local administrators group on both the server and client computers - if in a workgroup environment.
After the above configuration changes have been done protect the client computer(s) again. If the issue continues setup a new user account and deploy using that.
For more information on preparing computers for remote installation of endpoint software refer to the Sophos endpoint deployment guide.
For further information on how the console installs endpoint software see article 12455.
