What to do

The following procedures assume you attempted to install Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+ to the default location. If you were installing to a non-default location, the files will be found elsewhere.

The locations vary slightly according to whether you are installing on enterprise solutions, small business solutions or a standalone computer. Follow the relevant procedure.

Enterprise and Small business solutions

  1. Go to \\servername\SophosUpdate\CIDS\Sxxx\SAVSCFXP\sau\program files\sophos\ and copy the folder called 'autoupdate' into C:\Program Files\Sophos.
  2. Go to C:\Program Files\Sophos\Autoupdate, and duplicate the folder called defaultconfig.
  3. Rename the duplicate folder to Config.
  4. Go to \\servername\SophosUpdate\CIDS\Sxxx\SAVSCFXP\, and double-click Setup.exe. Installation of Sophos Endpoint Security and Control should now proceed correctly.

Standalone computers

  1. Go to C:\escwsa\sau\Program files\Sophos\ and copy the folder called Autoupdate into C:\Program files\Sophos.
  2. Go to C:\Program Files\sophos\autoupdate.
  3. Duplicate the DefaultConfig folder
  4. Rename the duplicate to Config.
  5. Go to C:\escwsa and double-click Setup.exe. Installation of Sophos Endpoint Security and Control should now proceed correctly

NOTE:
Where escwsa is the name of the standalone installer's extraction point. If in doubt download the Sophos standalone installer and make a note of the installation folder as this may vary with different versions of Sophos Endpoint Security and Control.
