Registry keys remaining following the removal of Sophos AutoUpdate

  • Article ID: 114612

Issue

Following the removal of Sophos AutoUpdate (SAU) the following registry key remains:

  • 32-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Plugins
  • 64-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Plugins

First seen in

Sophos Endpoint Security 9.7

Cause

The AutoUpdate installer (uninstaller) cannot remove the key as other endpoint components (Anti-Virus, Client Firewall, etc.) may have registered themselves with SAU and written a key under the Plugins key.

Rather than potentially break SAU and component registrations the key is left.

What To Do

This will have no effect on the operation of your computers.
