Issue

After shutting down the SSVM Guest VMs are unresponsive for ~30 seconds.

Sophos Anti-Virus for VMware vShield

Cause

Shutting down the SSVM causes requests from the Guest VMs via the vShield appliance for file scans to timeout and then fail.
It can take up to 30 seconds for all outstanding requests to fail.

What To Do

It is recommended that the SSVM should never be shutdown while Guest VMs are running on the host.
If the SSVM needs to be shutdown for some reason then it is recommended that vShield be disabled on the Guest VMs or that users are warned that they may experience some disruption for a given period of time.
