Sophos Anti-Virus for OpenVMS: 'Non-standard record format for File Service file' messages

  • Article ID: 21488
  • Updated: 05 Mar 2010

Sophos Anti-Virus for OpenVMS will display an error message whenever it encounters a file that is not in 'stream' format:

INFO: Non-standard record format for File Service file...

This message was originally included in Sophos Anti-Virus for OpenVMS at a time when it was usually used to scan PATHWORKS file services, and all files would be in stream format. The message indicated to the user that non-PATHWORKS files were being scanned. The option /FI could be used to turn this message off.

Sophos Anti-Virus for OpenVMS is now mainly used for mail scanning, so these messages are no longer appropriate.

Sophos Anti-Virus for OpenVMS has been changed so that the default setting of this option is now OFF rather than ON.

What to do

The messages may be switched on again by using the option /NOFI.
