Migrating update locations for computers running Sophos Anti-Virus for UNIX and Linux version 4.x

When you upgrade to Endpoint Security and Control version 9 and migrate from EM Library to the Update Manager in Enterprise Console, the shared update folder locations will change. Any Windows or Mac computer that is managed by Enterprise Console, as well as any computer running Sophos Anti-Virus for UNIX/Linux version 7.x, will automatically detect and use the new update locations.

However, any computer running Sophos Anti-Virus for UNIX/Linux version 4.x or Sophos Anti-Virus for Netware will need to be manually set to use the new update locations.

This article describes how to set computers running Sophos Anti-Virus for UNIX/Linux version 4.x to use the new update locations. Please see Best Practice: subscribing to Sophos Anti-Virus for Netware from Enterprise Console version 4 for information about setting up a new update location in Sophos Anti-Virus for Netware.

NOTE: This article assumes that your Linux/Unix systems have already mounted the ‘InterChk’ share and are configured to update from the correct package. For example, if the mount point for the InterChk share is /mnt/interchk, the update location in eminstall.conf should be set to: EM install CID = /mnt/interchk/unixinst/[package name]/[package]

Alternatively, you could change the location that eminstall.conf is pointing to.

What to do

On the server that's used to update your computers running Sophos Anti-Virus for UNIX/Linux version 4.x:

  1. Unshare the C:\Program Files\Sophos Sweep for NT\unixinst\ folder.
  2. Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sophos\Update Manager\Update Manager\CIDs\S000 and share it as 'Interchk'.

Alternatively, you could change the location that eminstall.sh is pointing to.
