Sophos Anti-Virus for UNIX/Linux can run out of disk space when scanning complex archive files. Sophos Anti-Virus for UNIX/Linux uses the /tmp directory to store its working results when it unpacks archive files. If this directory is not very large, it could run out of disk space.

Specific users might encounter the same problem if Sophos Anti-Virus for UNIX/Linux exceeds their disk size limit.

What to do

Try one of these solutions:

  • Enlarge /tmp or increase the users' disk size limit.
  • Change the directory Sophos Anti-Virus for UNIX/Linux uses for working results. Do this by setting the environment variable SAV_TMP.
