Sophos Anti-Virus for NetWare can be configured to unload the old version automatically and load the new one when an update is copied to the server.

What to do

Select 'Administration' from the main menu, followed by 'Auto-updating'. This brings up the auto-updating configuration menu:

  • 'Status' is set to 'Inactive' by default. Switch this to 'Active' to enable auto-updating.
  • 'Directory' configures the path which Sophos Anti-Virus for NetWare checks for updated files. By default this is SYS:\SWEEP\NLMINST, but it can be configured to select any path on any volume on the server (except the directory containing the running NLM).
  • 'Timing' determines when Sophos Anti-Virus for NetWare checks for the arrival of an update. If set to 'On arrival', Sophos Anti-Virus will check for an update every minute and initiate the auto-updating process as soon as it detects an update. If set to 'Specified', Sophos Anti-Virus will only check for an update and initiate the auto-updating process at the specified time.

To use auto-updating to update Sophos Anti-Virus for NetWare on a server, copy the updated files into the designated auto-updating directory on that server.
