Sophos Anti-Virus for Macintosh OS X: authenticating as a Domain User with AutoUpdate

Issue
If you want Sophos Anti-Virus for Macintosh OS X to use a domain user to update with, then you must change the URL in the AutoUpdate tab in System Preferences.

What to do

  1. Go to System Preferences|AutoUpdate tab. Normally the URL would look like this:
    smb://myserver/interchk/esosx/
  2. To make AutoUpdate look for a domain user instead of a local user, change the URL to this:
    smb://mydomain;myserver/interchk/esosx/
    NOTE: the domain name and the rest of the share URL is separated by a semi-colon and not a colon, as shown in the line above.
