September release details and changes to Virus Data Language (VDL) versions

This article provides information on the September 2013 monthly release and what effect this release will have on the Virus Data Language (VDL) versions you will see.

Note: The VDL version is used below instead of a particular endpoint product version because of the wide number of products that share the same VDL (e.g., SAV for Windows 10.3.2, SAV for Linux 9.3.1, SAV for Unix 9.3.1, SAV for OS X 9.0.3, etc).

September release details

As part of the September release you will see the following (e.g. in your Sophos Update Manager subscription settings):

  • September (4.93) packages tagged as ‘Recommended’
  • June (4.90) packages available as both ‘Previous’ and ‘Oldest’
  • July (4.91) packages alerted on as “approaching retirement”
  • Fixed July (4.91) packages will be marked as “Deprecated” with a notice linking to KBA 119717.
