|SUMLog ||This is a binary file that is readable with the LogViewer.exe (see above) only. The text displayed by the log viewer is localized. You can control the maximum size and age of the log files by using the Logging tab of the Update Manager settings in Enterprise Console. Old log files are deleted if either the maximum size or age is reached. |
When viewed in the log viewer, messages can be filtered according to severity and level, and the refresh button will fetch the latest messages.
|SUMTraceLog ||Trace files are more detailed, and are intended for Sophos Technical Support. They are text files, and are always in English. |
The files are located in the Update Manager Logs folder:
%allusersprofile%\Application Data\Sophos\Update Manager\Logs\
This value indicates the location of the default share for SUM. It is created during installation, and should not be modified. If you need to modify this location, you can do so by following the instructions in System.xml - description of fields you can change.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\UpdateManager] "Product Version"="220.127.116.11"
This value indicates the version of SUM. It is created during installation (or self-update) and should not be modified.
Values below this key are used by the SUM installer and should not be modified.
It is possible to interact with SUM by opening a telnet session on the local computer. The port number for this is the same as that used by the RMS adapter. To prevent unauthorised access to SUM, the telnet session requests a password, which is expected to be the same as that in the LogonKey value in the registry. Permissions on this value are set to restrict access to administrators, and the value is deleted immediately after use.
Note: On 64-bit computers the key will be:- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432node\Sophos\UpdateManager\]
