Enterprise Console: clicking on 'View reports' fails and error is displayed

Issue
Clicking on the 'View reports' option displays the following error:

An error occurred when connecting to the database. Reporting is not available. Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

Technical information
If the SQL database resides on another server within the infrastructure, the credentials specified within the installation may not have been correctly passed to the reporting configuration. This issue may occur because when you click the 'Reporting' button, the Console is failing to logon to the SQL database because it is using the logged-on user's credentials.

What to do

This is probably a credentials issue, so ensure that you are using the correct credentials and that they are aligned.

If necessary, use the following workaround:

  • Create a new user on the SQL server and place the user in the Sophos DB Users group.
  • Create the same user on the management server and place it in the Sophos Enterprise Console Administrators group.             
  • Log on to the management server using the new user account.
  • Launch Enterprise Console and click 'Reports'.
