Sophos Anti-Virus SBE: Installing to a computer on which other Sophos products are already installed

Before you install the latest version of Sophos Anti-Virus Small Business Edition (SBE), you must check whether you have any Sophos products already installed on your computers. If any are present, you must remove them before running the installation.

When you start the installation, Sophos Anti-Virus installation wizard scans your system.

The installation wizard can detect:

  • Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows NT/2000/XP/2003.
    If this product is detected on your system, the Sophos Anti-Virus installer is able to automatically uninstall it and then install the latest version.
  • Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 95/98/Me.
    If this product is detected on your system, the Sophos Anti-Virus installer will alert you to it. You must manually uninstall Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 95/98/Me, before installing the latest version.

The installation wizard can not detect the following Sophos products. However, these components MUST be uninstalled before you install the latest version of Sophos Anti-Virus. Failure to remove them can result in errors. Check your system, and uninstall any of the following:

  • Enterprise Manager 1.0x
  • EM Library 1.1
  • EM Reporter
  • Remote Update
  • MailMonitor for SMTP
  • MailMonitor for Exchange
  • PureMessage Small Business Edition (SBE)
  • PureMessage for Windows/Exchange.
