Issue
Enable extended tracing for SafeGuard LAN Crypt Administration and Client.

Product
Starting with SafeGuard LAN Crypt Client and Administration 3.51

Client OS
Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP

What to do

  1. Add an additional key in the computers registry, as described below.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Utimaco\SGMTrace]
    "Logfile" = "C:\SGMTrace\logfile.sgt"
    "MinimumTraceLevel"=dword:00000000

    Hint:

    You can change the destination directory where the logfile should be saved according to your needs. However,the destination directory for the logfile must be accessible to "Everyone" with write access.

    Hint:
    With SGLC 3.60 administration and client the modules for tracing functionality has been changed and are now the same as in SGN. The default value for minimal tracing is no 90 (decimal)

    Send the tracefile to Utimaco support, it can only be analyzed by Utimaco as it is written in a specific format.

  2. You havo to disable tracing after the action you wanted to log. This is because the logfile can grow very fast and therefore may have an impact on the system performance.
